Sustainability

We will do our best to minimize our environmental footprint!

Sustainability is important to us!

We attach great value to sustainability and are organizing this event as sustainably as possible. By booking their tickets, participants are supporting the following measures:

Food & Catering

  1. We only use porcelain and glass dishes - everything is washed and can be reused.

  2. We offer vegan and vegetarian food options and try to keep the carbon footprint of the food to a minimum.

  3. The Estrel Hotel tries to make the kitchen as regional as possible. i.a. the hotel manages its own 45 square meter greenhouse on the roof of the hotel for its own kitchen, uses regional suppliers from the Berlin-Brandenburg region and produces for instance its own honey.

  4. Unused food should be reused within the hotel. Through "Estrel Share," snacks and meals from overproduction are made available free of charge to Estrel employees. Additionally, with the App "Too Good To Go", surplus food that would otherwise end up in the trash is distributed to those in need.

Arrival, Mobility, visitor behavior

  1. The conference hotel is best reached by public transportation. The train station Sonnenallee can be reached from the airport and main train station in approximately 30 minutes, and the train is the recommended way of travel in Berlin.

  2. We offer all participants discounted rates for traveling to the event with Deutsche Bahn, encouraging them to arrive by train.

  3. The hotel provides charging facilities for electric cars in the underground garage.

  4. The conference will take place at one location. The conference venue and hotel rooms are within walking distance of each other.

  5. During the event, we avoid CO2 emissions from transfers and overnight stays at locations far from the event.

Energy, heating, overnight stay

  1. Throughout the conference hotel, room temperatures are actively controlled and lowered during the night.

  2. Energy-saving bulbs and devices are used in all rooms and spaces of the hotel.

  3. The hotel operates its own 160 kWh photovoltaic system to generate electricity for its visitors.

  4. The CO2 emissions associated with rental laundry (including towels, bed linen, tablecloths, etc.) in the hotel are calculated and offset through greenhouse gas compensation in a certified reforestation project in Colombia.

Promotional material, prints, furniture

  1. We try to avoid print materials as much as possible and communicate digitally for the event. Our conference app enables participants to have a good conference experience onsite without printed documents.

  2. The booth construction onsite is carried out by the stand builder using reusable Octanorm walls. Also the furniture used for the booths and in the venue is rented and reused multiple times.

  3. For seating, catering, and other needs, furniture from the conference hotel is utilized onsite. No furniture is delivered to the hotel, minimizing emissions.

  4. Excess promotional materials are mostly sent back to our partners and sponsors for recycling.

  5. Participant management is entirely done digitally.
